Welcome to Oikocredit USA’s CHiRP blog! We’re glad you found us and are taking the time to learn more about us and our organization. The CHiRP (Citizens Helping in Reducing Poverty) Program is an extremely unique program and it is also a very new initiative. Oikocredit USA launched this program in the summer of 2012 (only a few months ago!) and it was designed by our National Director. The idea behind this program is for Oikocredit USA to have a large network of young people pushing out content and information about Oikocredit on different social media platforms. CHiRPers are located across the country and represent different regions. They act as a link between Oikocredit USA and local communities, university students, young people and even potential investors. CHiRPers frequently attend webinars focused on development issues, women’s empowerment, microfinance, poverty alleviation and the like. This blog will be a space where our CHiRPers can express what they have been learning and how it relates to Oikocredit and their own lives as students.
Stay tuned for our first entry from one of our CHiRPers – and keep checking back, as our blog will be updated weekly!
